Confident Beginners Knitting Workshop: Knitting from a Chart
Knitting Charts Made Easy for Beginners
This workshop is designed for knitters who are comfortable with knit and purl stitches and want to expand their skills with new stitch techniques and chart reading. Perfect for knitters looking to gain confidence and add texture and pattern to their handmade projects.
In this class, you’ll learn some new stitches such as p2tog, slips, and decorative combinations and see how they work together to create visual interest in your fabric. We will work from a simple chart breaking it down step by step as we work.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have practiced working from a chart and completed a small textured swatch you can use as a reference for future projects.
You’ll learn how to:
- Work stitches beyond simple knit and purl to create texture and pattern
- Understand common chart symbols and how they translate to your needles
- Read and follow a simple stitch chart row by row.
Prerequisites: Comfortable knitting and purling, casting on, and casting off. This workshop is ideal as a follow up to our absolute beginners workshop.
