2 Week Curtain Making Workshop

Make Your Own Curtains

Ready to take your sewing skills further and create beautiful soft furnishings for your home? This hands-on workshop is designed for confident sewing machine users who want to build their skills and approach curtain making with confidence.

In this practical 2 week session, you’ll be introduced to essential soft furnishing techniques and guided through the process of measuring, planning, and constructing a lined curtain sample. 

You’ll learn how to accurately measure for windows, calculate fabric requirements, and achieve a neat, professional finish using both machine and hand stitching techniques.

This workshop takes place over two focused sessions, giving you the skills and knowledge you need to make your own curtains at home.

What You’ll Make & Learn

Lined Curtain Sample 

You’ll create a lined curtain sample while learning how to plan and construct custom curtains from start to finish. 

You’ll gain skills in:

• Measuring windows and calculating fabric quantities
• Calculating drops, widths, hems, and headings
• Constructing and finishing lined curtains
• Gathering and assembling curtains for a professional finish

What to Bring

Curtain fabric: 1 metre of cotton fabric (110–150cm wide) 
Lining fabric: 1 metre of cotton or calico (110–150cm wide)
Curtain tape will be provided.

You’re welcome to purchase fabrics from our city centre store, where you’ll receive 10% off all items bought for your workshop. Alternatively, you may source your fabrics elsewhere - both options are absolutely fine.
