Welcome to the Sewcialising Blog!
I have set this blog up to showcase any sewing projects I or my colleagues make, to talk about any new fabrics and sewing notions we’ll stock in our fabric bricks and mortar shop in York and online and to discuss any news we have related to sewing.
I’m super excited to start this journey. I am a self taught sewer but am very passionate about sewing and about teaching others to sew as I’m keen to pass on the bug! I once said to my husband that I would love to learn to sew and that Christmas he surprised me with a new machine. This was about 7 years ago now and although I’ve not had much time to sew with having two small children and through general work commitments, whenever I do put my machine on, I lose myself in my thoughts and project and instantly feel happy! I struggled to find sewing workshops that weren’t in a school setting and thought York could do with a funky bit different fabric shop!
So I hope you will join me on this exiting adventure in me opening my very own first retail store! As scary as it is with Brexit, Covid-19 and other retailers coming and going to the high street, I really hope we can offer York a lovely fabric shop where people will visit (time and time again) and can enjoy stroking our gorgeous fabrics, buy some fun craft kits, sewing notions and come and join us for a fun sewing workshop!
