- A zipper pouch or pencil case are a small and straightforward project which will provide an ideal introduction to inserting zips, allowing you to build your skills.
-
Oven mitts are also fun to make. You will learn how to sew in a curve and how to sandwich fabrics as you will require some heat resistant wadding for this project. You could also quilt your oven mitts before constructing them which will challenge you and push your sewing skills further.
- An apron - Whether for cooking or crafting, a simple apron is handy and can showcase your personality. Added bonus: you’ll protect your clothes while you work on your next masterpiece!
Whatever you choose to make, remember we all had to start somewhere and even the most accomplished sewists learned by making mistakes along the way. The most important thing at this stage is to enjoy the process whilst you build and practise your skills.. after all, practice makes perfect as they say!
